Thanks to Alan for supplying this article!

From Dark Horizons:

Batman/Superman: Well its been a while but just hours after the announcement of Christian Bale as Batman, 'The Turncoat' returns with more stuff on both projects: "I suppose you've heard by now that Christian Bale is WB's new Bat. They've been eyeing him for a long time. I hear that Josh Jackson was also looking good too, apparently they might use him if Year One ever gets off the ground which all has to do with the success of this one. Batman vs. Superman is also back on the cards too, but again, depending on the success of Bat 5. Bale's contract apparently says he's got to do a sequel and B vs S. They're casting the villain at the moment, and they're looking for a Farrell-Sandler-Sly size marquee name for that one. Superman's also showing signs of happening soon too, Matthew Bomer's been in and out of the lot, and there's talk they might be testing Josh Jackson because he did a good Batman audition. They're currently scouting locations, and trying to get Selma Blair out of another film so she can do this apparently. McG is definitely directing despite the rumors".

Several locations have confirmed that Josh will not play Batman, and the role has been given to Christian Bale.

From AICN.com

Harry here... Moments ago it was decided and sealed.... Christian Bale will be BATMAN in Christopher Nolan's BATMAN. I also have it confirmed that Ras Al Ghul will definitely be a villain in the film, though there may be a possibility of a small part to be played by the Scarecrow. Also the film will have a good deal to do with London this time out. But fanboys and girls... you got your wish. BALE is BATMAN! Now Celebrate!

Wow!  Lots of updates on Josh this week!

Thanks to cibershe for relaying this information from Fraz at FF:

BIG SCOOP...straight from VP of WB Jordan Levin.
Josh Jackson aka Pacey from Dawson's Creek is directing at least one episode of Everwood if not more this season.

Josh as Batman? - update

Rumor has it that Josh is in the TOP THREE contenders for the role.  EW.com had a little blurb on what they think of him playing the role.  Not very positive, but hey, what the hell do they know?  **snicker**

Batman: Which young hunk should play him? Christian Bale, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Joshua Jackson lead the race to the cowl

JOSHUA JACKSON, 24
STRONG CHIN? Nah. Jackson, best known for his charming turn as Katie Holmes' admirer Pacey on ''Dawson's Creek,'' often looks a little paunchy.
DARK SIDE? Hard to say. Jackson was convincingly tortured as town misfit Pacey. But Batman -- a fellow so tormented by the brutal murder of his parents that he puts on tights and beats up bad guys each night -- has a lot more to deal with than advanced trig and Joey Potter's virginity.
READY FOR ACTION? Unless Jackson's spent every second since he left the Creek in the gym, it's hard to imagine. He did have a hell of a tussle with Dawson in season five, though (hmmm... James Van Der Beek as the Joker?)
VERDICT Ridiculous. But then again, that's what they said about Michael Keaton.

Thanks to Chaz and other sources for emailing and posting articles about Josh having a possible role as a young Batman in an upcoming Batman installment.

It's as if Warner Bros. Pictures were shining a Bat Signal over Burbank, summoning potential Caped Crusaders. Warners and helmer Christopher Nolan are zeroing in on an actor to star in the title role of the studio's next "Batman" installment, which is scheduled to start shooting in February. Sources said that during the next three days, several young actors are expected to test for the role. The list of potential crime fighters includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Christian Bale, Joshua Jackson ("Dawson's Creek"), Cillian Murphy ("28 Days Later"), Henry Cavill ("I Capture the Castle") and Eion Bailey, who stars in the upcoming HBO feature "And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself." Meanwhile, sources say Hugh Dancy, currently shooting the Walt Disney Co.'s "King Arthur," may test if his schedule permits and he is able to shave the beard his "Arthur" character, Galahad, is sporting.

Entertainment Weekly - Septmeber 5, 2003

Dude, forget Freddy vs. Jason! Let's talk Batman vs. Superman. It's likely the next incarnation of the Caped Crusader will beat the long-awaited Man of Steel remake to the big screen. Christopher Nolan (Memento) will direct Warner Bros.' next Batman installment and a source says young bucks like Billy Crudup (Almost Famous), Jake Gyllenhaal (The Good Girl), Christian Bale (American Psycho), Hugh Dancy (Black Hawk Down), Joshua Jackson (The Skulls), and Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later) are being considered for the nippled barsuit. Don't sweat it, George Clooney---you'll always be our favorite!

Ain't it Cool News:

A list of 'young' Batman actors surfaces...

Hey folks, Harry here... according to the wondrous Zorianna Kit of Hollywood Reporter fame... it seems that Warner Brothers and Christopher Nolan will be given a whole bunch of actors a peek to see if they are BATMAN/Bruce Wayne or not. The list is... well a bit odd. Personally I preferred the Guy Pearce rumors - but... ok, that's not what it is looking like. Here ya go...

While the list should end with those two - it doesn't... next is Joshua Jackson, 25 years old, best known for playing Pacey Witter on TV's DAWSON'S CREEK. He is an actor that while being in several films I have seen, has never captured my attention or made me think... Wow, who is this guy? He's 6'2" and from Canada. Probably most hated for having dated Katie Holmes... he's asthmatic and allergic to peanuts. He's been chosen as one of Teen People's "21 Hottest Stars Under 21" back in 1999. Got zero vibe for him playing Batman. Just don't have a strong opinion about him.

TVGuide.com:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, those vying for the coveted role include Jake Gyllenhaal, Christian Bale and Joshua Jackson. Shooting gets underway in February.
