Thanks to katscar from PN for posting the first
review of the Season 3 DVDs:
(from Entertainment Weekly:)
Dawson's Creek: The Complete Third Season
James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes
Unrated, 16 hrs. 17 mins., 1999-2000 (Columbia TriStar)
The season after creator Kevin Williamson left the precocious WB series is
uneven at best---"There are things that I just look back at, and frankly I
cringe a little bit," admits exec producer Paul Stupin in his commentary.
Bigheaded Dawson (Van Der Beek) goes slumming with temptress/stripper/Jen's half
sister, Eve (Brittany Daniel); Andie (Meredith Monroe) is released from the
mental ward and filches a copy of the PSATs; sardonic Jen (Michelle Williams)
gets steamrolled by an earnest freshman's affections; Jack (Kerr Smith) meets a
boy.
Luckily for the viewers (and the show), junior year at Capeside also
introduces the unlikely romance between smart aleck Pacey and
girl-down-the-creek Joey: The talented Joshua Jackson and Holmes convincingly
forge their bickering into something that supposed soul mates Dawson and Joey,
in all their hyperanalytic self-awareness, couldn't---real heart.
The scanty EXTRAS include only audio commentary from Stupin and Smith and a
ho-hum interactive tour of Capeside. B-.

Season 3 DVD set update! Another cover art (slightly modified) has been released, as well as another menu screen:
This is still a 4-DVD set, crammed full of all 23 episodes from the third season of the very popular series. As with previous sets, there are some music changes in the package due to rights/costs issues. However, fans will be pleased to know that the new music was selected by the Executive Producer of the show.
We do know that one of the "Special Features" will be an interactive tour of Capeside, as well as an audio commentary with Paul Stupin and Kerr Smith.

Season 3 DVD release date set for August 24?
"We started receiving emails about Dawson's Creek: Season 3 about a week after Season 2 came out, and up until now we didn't have a date. You can expect season 3 to be hitting store shelves on August 24th. Specs and supplements aren't available yet, but we're told that the set will most likely be configured the same as season 2; 22 episodes on 4 discs. We're still holding out hope that Columbia Tri-Star will expand the set to 5 discs, since cramming 6 episodes on a disc for season 2 resulted in horrible compression problems and poor video quality."

Thanks to Kim for this information via Paul Stupin:
Season Three is being scheduled for release in July 2004. This of course could change, but at the moment, this is what's being projected. Season Four is also slated to be released later this year. Please note that all release information is for USA/Region 1 DVDs. The music will most likely change, due to funding, and there is no idea how much will be altered. In regards to extras on the Season Three DVDs, the interactive tour of Capeside/Summer Diaries will be featured.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Kim had a chance to chat briefly with Executive Producer, Paul Stupin to discuss the Season 3 DVD set. We've learned that he is trying to get the actors to come back for commentaries, however, Josh has turned down the offer. No official comment was given as to why, but being that Josh has been busy with other projects, could be the key reason.
The DVDs are in production now, and no release date has been set. Assuming that the release will be approx. 6 months apart from the last season release, it may be sometime in June, please note that this is not official. Hopefully, more news will become available regarding the music selections in the set, and if any or all of it will be changed. Keep your fingers crossed!
